About CG Tech Services

Like many companies, CG Tech Services, Inc. began as a one-man show. Founder Eugene Hastey had worked at the University of Washington’s Network Operations Center, before moving to Avanade where he worked as Systems Engineer, training consultants around the globe on how to deploy and migrate large companies to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange 2003. After working at Avanade, Eugene took a position at Microsoft. But somehow it didn’t feel right. While these large corporations offered excellent opportunities to rapidly gain experience and technical know-how on the latest technologies, Eugene was missing something important: a direct connection with customers. So he made a change. He began working as the IT Director for a small non-profit company called Arts Corps. This amazing organization allowed Eugene the flexibility to slowly grow his independent computer consulting business while he revamped their office computer systems. As his work at Arts Corps reached completion, his independent consulting business grew and he was ready to create CGBdesign, now CG Tech Services, Inc., in Fall 2004. Thanks to positive word-of-mouth, business steadily prospered. The one-man company grew into a client-focused group of technology specialists who share a common interest: collaborating with clients to create technology solutions that truly fit their business needs.

  • We use 80 Plus-certified energy efficient power supplies for our office computers and for repairing clients’ computers.
  • We have switched most of our lighting to compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • We use motion sensor-activated power strips for non-critical office equipment to ensure that devices draw power only when in use.
  • We use only 100% post-consumer recycled, FSC certified paper products in our office.
  • We email invoices and accept credit cards in an effort to migrate to a paperless office.
  • We use remanufactured (recycled) toner cartridges when printing is necessary.
  • We purchase carbon-offset credits through TerraPass to offset 100% of the carbon emissions created through our business operations including heating, electricity, and driving.
  • We offset 12,000 miles worth of carbon emissions per employee to cover work-related travel and much of their personal driving. On average, our employees drive about 4,000 miles a year to provide service to our clients, and we’re working to reduce that number.
  • When possible, we troubleshoot remotely by using technologies such as GoToMeeting to save time and reduce travel.
  • We try to drop ship packages directly from our distributor's warehouse to our clients to avoid additional emissions from excess shipping.
  • We reuse as many shipping boxes and packing supplies as we can and share excess supplies with the local shipping store.
  • After secure wiping of media to eliminate all personal information, we responsibly recycle old computers, servers, printers, phone equipment, wiring, and many other items.
  • We’ve joined the Seattle City Light Green Up wind power sponsoring program.
  • We offer web hosting through a solar-powered facility. This is better than being carbon neutral, as there are no emissions to offset.
